Vision/Intent
Grow
Our music curriculum nurtures students’ personal and creative growth by developing their confidence in musical expression and performance. Through exploring rhythm, melody, and harmony, students build a deep understanding of music as a form of communication. By learning about different instruments, genres, and global music traditions, they cultivate a sense of cultural appreciation and personal identity. Students are encouraged to grow as reflective musicians, enhancing their ability to work collaboratively, perform confidently, and express their individuality through sound.
Learn
Students acquire the foundational and advanced skills needed to engage with music both practically and analytically. They learn how to play instruments, create digital music, and perform live, as well as how to set up and manage sound systems. By studying key musical genres, historical developments, and the works of significant artists, students gain insight into the cultural and social contexts of music. Through analysis and exploration of musical devices such as texture, tempo, and tonality, students enhance their technical and theoretical understanding.
Achieve
The music curriculum equips students with the tools to excel as musicians and performers. They develop their skills to compose, rehearse, and perform with confidence, either solo or as part of an ensemble. Students learn to plan live music events, prepare for performances, and reflect on their progression. By understanding how instruments work, maintaining them, and integrating music technology, they are prepared for future opportunities in music and the creative arts. The curriculum instils in them a sense of achievement and pride, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their musical community.
Through a focus on creativity, skill development, and cultural awareness, our music curriculum inspires students to connect with music on a personal level while preparing them for broader opportunities in the arts and beyond.
