Vision/Intent
Grow
Our geography curriculum helps students grow into informed and thoughtful global citizens. By exploring topics like the impact of natural disasters, climate change, and urbanisation, students develop an understanding of how human and physical geography are interlinked. Through activities such as map reading, using compasses, and interpreting geographical data, students build confidence in their ability to navigate and understand the world around them.
Learn
Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the world’s physical and human geography. They explore key questions such as how natural hazards affect global communities, how ecosystems function and why they are under threat, and why some countries are more developed than others. Students study global issues like food security, population growth, and the changing global economy, while also learning practical skills like conducting fieldwork, interpreting maps and diagrams, and writing analytically about geographical issues.
Achieve
Our geography curriculum equips students to achieve academically while developing essential life skills. Through engaging with topics such as the role of geography in history, the causes and effects of climate change, and the management of global resources, students build their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and problem-solve. They are encouraged to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios, such as conserving ecosystems or understanding the implications of urbanisation, ensuring they are prepared to address the challenges of the future.
By exploring the relationships between people, places, and environments, our geography curriculum inspires students to appreciate the complexity of the world, develop essential skills, and take an active role in shaping a sustainable future.
