Vision/Intent
Grow
Our art curriculum helps students grow as creative individuals, teaching them how to express themselves and explore their identities through various artistic mediums. By studying artists like Frida Kahlo, Peter Thorpe, and Henri Rousseau, students learn to draw inspiration from diverse styles and apply these to their own work. Through hands-on experiences, such as manipulating clay, creating self-portraits, and exploring Eco Art, students develop confidence, resilience, and a unique artistic voice.
Learn
Students will build a strong foundation in artistic techniques and concepts, including colour theory, tonal work, proportion, and perspective. They will explore digital art tools, printmaking processes, and mixed media approaches while learning how to describe and reflect on their creative process. By investigating themes like Pop Art, Day of the Dead symbolism, and cultural influences, students gain an understanding of the historical and cultural significance of art, applying this knowledge to their own creations.
Achieve
Our curriculum supports students in achieving their artistic potential through the development of practical skills, creative thinking, and critical reflection. Students will showcase their progress through projects that demonstrate their ability to blend observation with innovation, refine their use of materials, and create meaningful works of art. From mastering techniques for comic illustration to presenting coursework and exam work with confidence, students will leave with a portfolio that highlights their skills and prepares them for future creative endeavours.
By exploring a wide range of techniques, themes, and cultural influences, our art curriculum fosters creativity, skill development, and a deep appreciation for the power of visual expression.
